Discussing internationalisation policy in Pitesti

Accompanied by the members of the BDF board, BDF visited the fourth project meeting of the UpGradeSME consortium hosted by project partner the South Muntenia Regional Development Agency in Pitesti, Romania.

Together with the Municipality of Leeuwarden BDF joined the international consortium UpGradeSME in 2016. Through this INTERREG Europe project local governments and business support organizations work together to optimize policy measures on SME internationalization stimulation. Existing policy measures will be shared across Europe and evaluated. After analysis they will be improved and implemented.

Besides sharing experiences on SME internationalization support, the South Muntenia Regional Development Agency organised several study visits to local companies with and international Scope. These companies shared with the UpgradeSME consortium how policy instruments helped them realising their international ambitions. From the automotive industry, GIC Industrial Group of Components was visited. GIC represents a group of companies dedicated entirely to the automotive industry. In addition the consortium was offered a tour through the premises of MGC Topoloveni. The company started its activity in 2002 in Topoloveni, Region of Romania recognized in all over the country to preserve traditions in the preparation of preserved fruit and vegetables.

Here there is a complex of factories modernised and equipped with the most performance equipment and technology with a production capacity exceeding 300 tons of finished product per week.
